Taylor Kitsch says it himself: "This year is really make-or-break."

With two massive movies (John Carter and Battleship) due in theaters before summer's out, the Friday Night Lights star will be seriously testing his leading man mettle in 2012. And to prove he's got the goods, Taylor is featured in a steamy fashion spread in March's GQ where he emulates James Dean's Giant style.

Insider the issue, Taylor tackles the subject of working with FNL boss Peter Berg again on the greenscreen-heavy Battleship. "On FNL, Peter taught us: Challenge the director, challenge the writers. Stand your ground. For Battleship, he had this moment of 'I almost regret teaching you that. Just do it, will you?'"
