Diane Kruger's Style Rules

'Farewell' Fashion

"This is the most fantastical costume. I certainly felt the most regal in that," Diane said of the ensemble Marie wears to appear in front of the court.

"This movie takes place at a time in France where the glamour had passed a little bit. Even Marie had to re-use old dresses to make new ones. Benoit [Jacquot, director] really wanted that to be reflected in the film. Yes, it's beautiful, but everything has a grotesque element to it. Even the makeup on some of the people in the court is just a little too much at times. I think that was important to show as well."
