"Gossip Girl"'s Leighton Meester has joined the fight against leukemia by lighting the Empire State Building red and white to raise awareness for DKMS, the world's largest bone marrow donor center.
Following the lighting, Meester attended the DKMS Annual Gala with such stars as Rihanna, Eva Mendes, David Bowie, Cyndi Lauper, and many more in support of raising awareness for the donor center.
Specifically though, Meester is urging her fans to help save the life of Ayelet Galena, a one-year-old girl from New York City who has a rare bone marrow failure disorder and will not be able to survive if a donor is not found soon enough.
"We need to find a donor for Ayelet," Meester said, "She will not survive if she doesn't find a bone marrow donor. I urge everyone to get swabbed, so Ayelet can find her perfect match."
