As the prosecution begins to wrap up their case in the wrongful death trail of Dr. Conrad Murray, Janet Jackson has announced plans to reschedule shows on her Number Ones tour in Australia to attend the court proceedings and lend support to her family.
"When I planned these shows, the schedule in California was completely different," she explained to The Associated Press on Sunday. "After talking with my family last night, I decided we must be together right now. .... This saddens me in so many ways."
Previously scheduled for this Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday, Janet will combine the three shows she will miss into one night, on November 3, in Rod Laver Arena. Her concert promoter, Paul Dainty, supports the singer in her decision to reschedule.
"It is important that Janet is with her family at this critical point in the hearing. While Janet and our company apologize for any inconvenience for the reschedule of the Melbourne shows, we thank Janet for the great and successful concerts in Perth and Adelaide and eagerly await her return. ... Our thoughts and prayers are with Janet and the entire Jackson family," Dianty said.
Testimony will resume in the Conrad Murray case on Wednesday with the prosecution's final witness.
