YouTube's Suicide Girl Inspires Through Tragedy
November 17, 2011
Kaitlin Brand became a YouTube sensation when she posted a video of herself, encouraging those with suicidal thoughts to seek help. In a recent interview, the Michigan teen opened up to The Insider about the day she found her mom's lifeless body after she committed suicide.
"When I found her I really didn't know what to do, because I really didn't believe it," said Kaitlin, whose mother hung herself in the woods by her home on October 5. "I felt like I was in a movie."
Kaitlin's YouTube video has touched many people's lives as it's made headlines and reached over 400,000 views -- just one of the reasons her friends call her "one of the strongest girls [they] know."
"If I could tell my mom one thing right now, it'd probably be that I love her and that I miss her," Kaitlin said. "This whole experience has made me realize that life is short and it's not worth it to fight with people because you never know when the last time you're going to see them is."
