This is the stupidest thing I’ve seen all day, maybe even all month. Hot off the metal-tipped heels of outing herself as a stoner at her birthday party over the weekend (which Miley's people insist was just a joke), Miley Cyrus has decided to release a music video for her fans. Check this readers, Miley Cyrus has released a political video supporting ... Occupy Wall Street. The collective groan heard 'round the world from TheInsider.com’s office should be loud and angry.

The video, which is set to her 2010 hit Liberty Walk, is a mash-up of actual footage from the Occupy protests in which masses of people around the country have protested the greed and the corruption of the 1 percent of the population. I don’t know Miley Cyrus' exact finances but I’m pretty sure she isn’t hurting for cash. Actually, wait, yes I do. Forbes listed Miley Cyrus as making $48 million in 2010 and $25 million in 2009 (thank you powers of the Google search). So the fact that she is protesting about the 1 percent is just ABSURD! I love when stupidly rich teenagers who are worth around $50 million protest America’s greed -- 'cause there is nothing ironic about that at all. Oh wait yes, there is.

In the preface, Cyrus dedicates the video "to the thousands of people who are standing up for what they believe in."

Oh come on, Miley! From your years of overexposure I’m going to infer that you stand for these things: partying in the U.S.A., continuing to be "deeper than normal people," having Bob Marley-themed birthday cakes, wearing stripper outfits onstage and having a weirdly close relationship with your father.

Miley do you really think the Occupy Wall Street protesters are rockin’ out to Party in the U.S.A. in between getting pepper sprayed by riot police? Do you think the protesters are taking a break from standing around in the bitter cold to make choreographed dances together to the auto-tuned stylings of Liberty Walk? Because that’s not how I’m envisioning the protests that are going down around the country.

Miley, (or can I call you by your birth name Destiny?) I think you have hit up the wrong demographic for your teeny-bopper music. While you and the Occupy protesters may both be pot smokers, I don’t think most of the Occupiers are 12-year-old girls who just can't say no to the color pink, dream of having "the best of both worlds" as a pop singer by night/average high school teen by day, or think Justin Biebs is the boychild they are going to marry one day.

While I appreciate your attempt at being the next Bob Dylan (okay that’s a lie, I don’t), it’s a little lame coming from the multi-millionaire poster girl of bubble-gum pop. If you want to take on a worthy cause in your wheelhouse, why don’t you make a video dedicated to protesting Justin Bieber’s haircut? (Months later I still think his short 'do looks silly)

While I have no problem with Miley’s message, I think the message coming from her is ridiculous. I think this time it’s okay to shoot the messenger.
