Madonna Ciconne, born in Michigan of an Italian father and a French mother, was one of six children. Her mother died of breast cancer at the age of 30 and her father remarried one of the ensuing housekeepers. Madonna and her siblings rebelled against the idea that anyone could replace her beloved mother. She attended Roman Catholic schools and was notorious for doing cartwheels and other gymnastics that afforded the school boys a view of her underwear.
