The hype created over Taylor Swift's contention to play a main role on the big screen has just been deflated, as Broadway World has just announced that Swift's potential role in a film adaption of Les Misérables has been filled.
The role of 'Éponine,' which Swift was offered to play in the film, has gone to Samantha Barks, an experienced play actress and singer.
Banks was surprised by the announcement, which was made in England by theatrical producer Cameron Mackintosh on stage at the end of the performance of Oliver!, in which Barks currently has a role.
The 21-year-old actress and singer took to Twitter after the exciting news, saying, "Most incredible moment of my life!!!"
The U.K. native played the role of Éponine in Les Misérables for a year, and was then selected by Mackintosh to play the role in the 25th Anniversary Concert of the musical.
Filming of Les Misérables is set to commence in March 2012 and is tentatively scheduled for release in December 2012.
