Chelsea Handler always finds a way to make a joke -- but on last night's episode of OWN's The Rosie Show, the funny-lady couldn't hold back her tears while talking about the death of her mother or the death of her brother.

"I think that's probably when I became an adult," Chelsea says of those final days with her mother in the hospital. "More so than her dying, or my brother dying, it was that realization that I'm an adult ... that was the most intense moment I've probably had in my life."

Chelsea Makes Love and War

"I don't think I've ever cried on television before," she laughs when talk turns to still feeling her mother's presence. "I feel like my mom's around me all the time. I think she probably thinks I need more guidance [than my siblings]. I live such a fast life. I'm young, I like to have fun and I think my mom was always like,'Oh gosh, your type of spirit can go down a good road or go down a bad road' -- I think she's trying to keep me on the straight and narrow."

And while there were plenty of light moments, Chelsea also opened up about her decision to have an abortion at 16. "I was so delusional," she said. "I was like, 'I'm ready for a baby.'" That's when her parents stepped in. "You're throwing your entire life away," they told her. "You're supposed to create a life for yourself. We want you to enjoy your life and not be raising a child, and we're certainly not going to raise it for you."

Chelsea has no regrets about her decision, saying that she doesn't believe it would have been possible for her to be a good mother to that child, before adding, "You should do whatever you want with your body and you shouldn't let anyone tell you what to do," she said.
