February 12, 2012
UPDATE: Bobby Brown just released an official statement: "I am deeply saddened at the passing of my ex-wife, Whitney Houston. At this time, we ask for privacy, especially for my daughter, Bobbi- Kristina. I appreciate all of the condolences that have been directed towards my family and I at this most difficult time."
News of Whitney Houston's tragic and sudden passing made it all the way to Memphis, where her ex-husband, Bobby Brown, was performing.
"First of all, I want to tell you that I love you all. Second, I would like to say, I love you Whitney. The hardest thing for me to do is to come on this stage," he told the crowd.

A source tells The Insider that after his show Saturday night, Bobby went back to his hotel and had a major breakdown. He didn't come back to L.A. Saturday because the people with him did not believe he was fit to travel. They said he was so distraught, a friend stayed with him inside his room last night to make sure he was okay and they kept someone outside the room as well in case further help was needed. The source notes that Bobby lost his mother last January and this has taken a severe toll on him.
According to the source, Saturday night was very bad and emotional, and they think Bobby is numb at this point.
