Say What?! Chris Brown's Shocking Pick-Up Line
Hey guess which singer/dancer/felon is still a total ass? Give up? Chris Brown. US Weekly is reporting that while at the Lasio Professional Hair Care Grammy suite gift lounge over the weekend, Brown swaggered on up to a brunette and laid down this sweet pick up line: "Can I get your number? I promise I won't beat you!"
HILAROUS! Nice one! Oh man and I thought the, "Are those space pants? 'Cause your ass is out of this world" line was a surefire way to take a classy lady to Bone Town, but this smooth criminal (literally) blew that one out of the water. Was an alternative pick-up line?: "Hey Hotlips, you wanna take a ride in my car? I promise I won’t beat your face black and blue before I drop you off … this time!” Or maybe: "Hey Dreamweaver, wanna make out … with my fists?" Perchance this sexy comeon: "Hey, what's black and blue and bloody all over? You in two hours." Or possibly this classic: "Hey you wanna drink? How ‘bout some punch?" Why didn't Chris use one of these?: "Hey want my number? It’s 911;" or "I see a future for us; A future where I am beating the sh*t out of you and you are calling the cops on me. What do you say we make this happen?”
The lucky lady also told the mag, "He and his friends laughed, then one yelled, 'That's his new line!' Ugh! I wanted to throw up!"
Wow, even Chris Brown’s friends are cool guys! Now, I didn’t see this go down, so I don’t know if this is true or this is some chick who just wants her three minutes of fame, but if it is – it’s just horrendous. Brown has recently released a statement about the alleged comments, saying , "That is absurd and absolutely not true. I did not say that nor would I joke about that." At this point it's his word against hers -- and his means very little to me. Since the assault on Feb. 8, 2009, the dancing fool has proven himself over and over again that he deals with his issues like an impetuous teen who is unable to accept that fact that a good portion of the public has issues with his past actions. For the past three years, he has had fits of rage and is constantly spewing out shockingly ignorant comments. Just the other day he angrily tweeted about the backlash over winning best R&B album for F.A.M.E., writing: "HATE ALL U WANT BECUZ I GOT A GRAMMY Now! That's the ultimate F*** OFF."
As for the legitimacy of the insensitive pick-up line, Brown's rep responded with this gem: "I'd be surprised if Chris said something that stupid." Even his rep isn’t even denying it -- the rep just said he’d "be surprised." Yeah, I bet that rep was also delightfully "surprised" upon finding out he had beat his girlfriend’s face and body to a pulp the night before the 2009 Grammys. I bet the rep was “surprised” that Chris threw a chair into his dressing room window while on the Good Morning America set (allegedly). I bet the rep was "surprised" when he referred to the incident with Rihanna as "mishap." Of course the rep is surprised when all of these things happen! It’s shocking to think anyone can be that dumb – and yet Chris Brown constantly proves his idiocy.
This year I was lucky enough to go to the Grammys (thanks Mom) where I saw Chris Brown perform. Yes, he was captivating. Yes, he was mesmerizing. Yes, I still hate him. Chris was greeted by applause and cheers but I refused to clap. Then I saw him win a Grammy – and he was warmly welcomed by the crowd, a few hundred people gave him a standing ovation -- and I sat in the audience dumbfounded, refusing to clap. Why are people applauding this man? Why is he being treated like the prodigal son making his triumphant return? Why are people rewarding this abuser? And why has his career seemed to suffer so little from his hateful act and his subsequent bad behavior? Even more shockingly, women were tweeting shocking messages of support during the Grammys. One woman tweeted: "Not gonna lie .. I think I’d let Chris Brown beat me" While another super smart lady wrote" "Id let Chris Brown beat me anytime ;-)." What the f*ck? Winky face?! What is wrong with these women?! Do you idiots know what Brown did to Rihanna? He isn't a felon because he gave her one to many cuddly bear hugs. He pummeled her face with his fists! I recently reread the full police report of the assault -- and the violence in it is bone chilling. What is wrong with people!? Someone like Michael Richards, who said the "N" word on stage or Isaiah Washington who used homophobic slurs, both had their careers all-but destroyed for using an offensive words. (For the record I think the words these men used are disgusting. I do not condone the use of them EVER. And I do think there should be severe repercussions of that kind of hateful intolerance.)
But how is it possible that they can hurl cruel words and have their careers tarnished and yet Brown repeatedly punched his girlfriend in the face, punched her legs, bit her ear, left her bloodied and wounded – and can be welcomed with open arms by so many? How can people be okay with that kind of hate for another human?
Yes, I think people who do terrible things can change and turn their lives around. I grew up surrounded by people who had hit rock bottom, decided to make a huge change and created entirely new lives for themselves. So I do not think someone’s past should always haunt him or her, as long as said person has made some changes and made major amends -- (umm unless you are Charles Manson, or a serial rapist or a killer -- then I'm cool with the past following you). To me, in order to be forgiven you need to redeem yourself. Chris Brown has yet to do so. And just because there are rumors swirling that Chris Brown and Rihanna have reconciled and she has forgiven him -- doesn't mean I (or anyone else) need to.
