When Clooney was asked about his companion to the awards show (girlfriend Sarah Larson), he goes for humor instead of flattery, joking that he "had to show up with Sarah on a bet."

George Clooney to Adopt Kids?

Clooney, who was nominated at the 2008 Academy Awards for Best Actor for Michael Clayton, had a hunch that he wasn't going to win the award, saying half-jokingly, "There are other actors up there that are probably going to win [the award], so I can sit back and have a drink."

The then 46-year-old Clooney also had a comical reaction to Brad and Angelina's potential baby news.

"I'm quite the babysitter," he said sarcastically. "Nobody leaves me with their children. 'Hey, kids, you want a cigar?'" he joked about his self-professed ineptitude in dealing with children.
