Lady Gaga Talks Fame, Family & The Future
Dressed in a demure version of her signature style, Gaga addressed a packed auditorium of her little monsters as well as supporters and fans who were able to watch the proceedings live over the Internet.
"This is not an anti-bullying foundation, this is a youth-empowerment foundation," clarified Lady Gaga of her ongoing efforts to combat bullying and empower the youth of America. "This is about changing the climate of the school environment and not putting the power in the hands of the teachers or the government, it is about the bubble effect. I don't believe they have the answers, I believe that you do."
Gaga Dominates The World (Wide Web)
Oprah deemed the progress of the BTW Foundation as an inspiring "movement," a compliment which Gaga re-directed towards her mom.
"My mother really inspires me because she always talked about giving back ever since I was very, very young, and the more that I got to know my fans, the more that I got to realize that not everybody has that support system at home, and I thought about the nuclear family," she said. "I thought about how we can create a place, the Born This Way Foundation, a place where the nuclear family means more than one thing. Your family can be anywhere. It can be the person that is sitting right next to you."
