Today, the 24-year-old makeup artist is the most subscribed female user on YouTube and her beauty tutorials have garnered almost half a billion hits. She shared how she got started in a recent interview with The Insider.

"My subscribers asked for a makeup tutorial and I made it for them," Michelle stated simply, revealing that she had already acquired a following through a blog. While the original request was for a written a tutorial, Michelle thought it would be more effective if it was filmed.

"So, I took out my MacBook Pro and I filmed my first video and uploaded it on YouTube, and within the first week it got 40,000 views," said Michelle.

Soon after her first video tutorial in 2007, Michelle was making a lucrative living off of her YouTube channel. There is a report that her income could be up to $1 million from her numerous sponsorships.

Already extremely busy, Michelle is now a producer for a new network called FAWN (For All Women Network), which launches next week as a YouTube premium channel.

"It's basically a young women's network that's going to help inspire them and have really strong messages about self-independence and world discovery," said Michelle.
