Vanessa Lachey Defends Techniques of Celeb Moms
April 11, 2012
Vanessa Lachey opened up to The Insider about how her pregnancy is progressing and also sounded off on the media criticism bearing down on some other celebrity moms.
Vanessa said she's been lucky so far to remain energetic most of the time and reports she's experiencing "no morning sickness and no crazy cravings." But she acknowledged this will likely all change the farther along she gets. "I'm sure that I'll become crazy when the hormones decide to kick in."
"No one can tell anybody how to mother until you're a mother -- and everyone has their own methods and I think it's beautiful that these celebrity moms are doing what they're doing unapologetically because it's their child and it's their life," she said. "I just wish that as a society we could just commend them for being mothers."
When asked about negative headlines such as those affecting star moms such as Jessica Simpson (whose been criticized for gaining excessive weight) and Alicia Silverstone (whose video of feeding her baby by mouth shocked the world), Vanessa said going through motherhood is a highly personal experience and the public should just celebrate the women for bringing children into the world.
The actress and expectant mother spoke to The Insider while hosting the "Take a Load Off" Laundry Lounge on behalf of P&G Future Friendly and Tide Coldwater in Los Angeles. The Take a Load Off campaign -- being held in conjunction with Earth Day on April 22 -- is meant to encourage the public to use cold water when doing laundry to conserve energy.
