Amber Riley is not leaving Glee. Maybe.

Gleeks around the world were sent in a tizzy last night when Amber Riley seemingly let it slip via Twitter that her character would not return to Glee. Following a mass of media attention, Mercedes herself set out to clarify her previous statement.

"My tweet apparently has been misconstrued," she wrote. "I was not confirming I was leaving the show. Just stating that I would miss being in the classroom everyday with the cast and that would be changing. Thanks for the support guys :)"

She adds, "That's the good and bad thing about twitter. It can be used to extinguish rumors but it also spreads them like wildfire!"

Riley's original tweet came off as a final farewell of sorts and was posted after filming her final scenes of this season's finale.

"That's a wrap on Amber Riley!," she began. "Just closed a chapter in my life, the only thing I've known day in and day out for three years. I'm going to miss the whole Glee family, seeing them everyday! I have so many brothers and sisters now :) But I am looking forward to a much needed and deserved summer vacation! SCHOOL'S OUT Glee Kids! Let's play! Stay tuned to see what's next for Mercedes ;)"

Riley previously hinted to E! Online that she "may not be coming back for a fourth season" on the FOX hit.

"Who knows?," she mused. "Whatever happens this third season is what happens, and I think everybody's OK with it...I love my job to pieces, but when it's time to go, it's time to go and, hopefully, there are greater things on the horizon."
