Jodie Rivera: A Modern Day 'Weird Al'?

The online world knows her as "VenetianPrincess," but 28-year-old Jodie Rivera is so much more than a YouTube sensation.
Boasting nearly a million subscribers and 375,000,000 plus views to her channel, the blue-eyed beauty became an overnight success with her videos, which are usually parodies of songs and events in popular culture. While she may not have the notoriety of Weird Al, her videos are akin to the world-renowned satirist and have made her a self-made millionaire.
"It's insane to think that all these people are watching me being a complete goofball," she tells The Insider. "Before YouTube I was just a dreamer. I always just wanted to perform for a living and I never thought that I would actually be able to make good money from it."

Prior to her fame, Rivera studied opera and has since performed in several professional U.S. stage productions, including the touring production of Andrew Lloyd Webber's The Phantom of the Opera in which she played Christine Daaé.
Rivera gained world-renowned notoriety in 2006 after being featured on the front page of then-fledgling video sharing site with her parody of Miley Cyrus' 7 Things. She was one of the first people invited into YouTube's revenue sharing program and the partnership has reportedly raked in $1.5 million dollars for the entertainer.
At present, Rivera has her own production company and continues to post videos of her own making. Her latest is entitled The End is Nigh, a take on Lady Gaga's You and I and has garnered over 237,000 hits since its posting in April.
