"When I see large amounts of views on my videos I'm always shocked," the young entrepreneur shares with The Insider of her surprise rise to YouTube fame and fortune in 2006. "I had a blog and I was blogging about different tutorials… and a lot of girls were asking for me to write one up [about makeup]," she explains. "So I posted it on my blog and then afterwards I thought, why not just film it?"

The move soon proved to be incredibly lucrative for the make-up guru who says her goal is, and always will be, to inspire others to be creative regardless of money she stands to earn from her channel which, to this date, has racked up an impressive 577 million views.

"I think my ultimate career goal has already been achieved which was just inspire young girls to feel better about themselves," she explains. "Whether it's through makeup or whether it's through just dreaming or being inspired to chase their dreams."

While she maintains that she never got into the game for the money – Phan has amassed an estimated at $1.2 Million—she does admit that it helped her realize a lifelong goal; to ease her mother into retirement.

"My biggest dream was to help my mom stop working and retire [my mother] and I was able to do that last year," she beams. "So now I'm able to take care of her and I think that's all that matters."

Phan is the second-most popular female personality on YouTube and has became a spokeswoman for Lancome thanks to the success of her online videos. She also recently partnered with Glamhouse for her Jewelry line Ever Eden.
