VIP Party Pass: The Nylon Mag Music Issue Party
The stars were out on Wednesday night to celebrate Belvedere Vodka's Nylon Summer Music Issue Celebration, with host Shirley Manson and special performance by Garbage. Luckily, I (TheInsider.com's very own Meg Swertlow!) also got an invite to the music-tastic soiree -- and I didn't even have to give up a kidney or my first born. Here are some of the VIP party deets!
After getting locked in the stairwell of parking lot – I feared my friend Kate and I would miss seeing my high school icon perform. But after a lot of yelling, a lot of scrambling up and down several flights of stairs in high heels, we got there just in time to see the amazing Shirley Manson take to the stage and prove once again she ain’t no stupid girl. While she the saucy Scottish singer and her band may have not come out with a record for seven years, the electrifying group showed that they haven’t forgotten how to rock the stage. Let's be honest people, I've been a super fan for ages. I am not ashamed to admit that in high school,
my friends and I did a choreographed dance to a medley of Push It, Only Happy When
It Rains and Queerest of the Queer for dance class -- and it was horrifically awesome. So being a mere 18 inches from the stage was pretty spellbinding. With her hair pulled up in the hottest new trend of a high bun, Shirley strutted about in shiny tights, a black tank and printed hot pants. Shirley might be 45 years old, but she has never looked better. Yep, its official -- Shirley Manson is once again my #1 crush.

She gyrated, she danced, she mesmerized the audience, all who were excited to see this duchess of awesome command the stage yet again. At one point, a grateful Shirley told the crowd that it had been quite a long time since she had performed at the Roxy Theatre, "The last time I was here I had to lug the equipment myself!"
Attendees were treated to an open bar of Belvedere-only cocktails (although I only managed to get one before they ran out. Extreme sadness) during Nylon Editor-In-Chief Marvin Scott Jarrett’s summer music celebration. During the bash, Garbage played classic hits including Stupid Girl, Push It and I Think I am Paranoid, as well as songs from their new album, Not Your Kind of People, during their 45-minute set on the Roxy’s mainstage. There were additional performances by Leah Labelle, Wallpaper and Quadron, as well as a DJ set by Brent Bolthouse. There was a photo booth in the upstairs lounge that posted images directly to Facebook, Conair and Scunci provided hair touch-ups and Smashbox Cosmetics makeup artists doing touch-ups/mini makeovers. Not bad for a Wednesday night. All that was nice, but really, I went for the Garbage and stayed for the Garbage.

Other young Hollywood stars in attendance were: CSI: Miami’s Adam Rodriguez, The L.A. Complex’s Ben Watson, reality star Brittny Gastineau, America’s Next Top Model CariDee English, Disney star Debby Ryan, Jane By Design’s Erica Dasher, The Secret Life of the American Teenager’s Grant Harvey, Jane by Design’s India de Beaufort, Awkward’s Jillian Rose Reed, super producer and rapper Pharrell Williams, The Secret Life of the American Teenager’s Francia Raisa, Battleground’s Teri Reeves, Pretty Little Liars’ Tyler Blackburn and some other pretty people with nice skin, who are less famous.
In high school, I thought Shirley Manson was the toughest, coolest chick I’d ever laid eyes on. Fourteen years later, I still feel the same. And I’ll fight anyone who disagrees with me -- I have a feeling Shirley would like that.
Love and hotpants,
Meg!
