After getting "pumped up" from L.A. obscurity to jamming with Maroon 5 on the Grammys, playing SNL, and touring the world in the last 18 months, Foster the People got kicked by their own roadies in Vegas on Saturday night.

Although we just celebrated July 4th, FTP's last night on tour felt more like April Fools Day! Just as lead singer Mark Foster was about to kick off their marquee hit Pumped Up Kicks as the encore, his road crew piped Bruce Hornsby's old 1980’s sappy song The Way It Is throughout the venue, turning the encore in to virtual piano karaoke.

"I've heard of a tour prank," Foster said, "but I've never heard of a band tour-prank themselves."

Taking the same stage where Kanye West, Adele, and Jay-Z have rocked at the Cosmopolitan, they welcomed me inside their backstage lounge where I met up with opener Kimbra (Somebody That I Used to Know singer) for a post show drink. I left my iPhone at home but luckily caught the prank on video on the just acquired Samsung Galaxy SIII.
