Kristen Stewart is acknowledging that she cheated on longtime boyfriend Robert Pattinson with her Snow White and the Huntsman director Rupert Sanders, and has issued a public apology to Pattinson.

"I'm deeply sorry for the hurt and embarrassment I've caused to those close to me and everyone this has affected. This momentary indiscretion has jeopardized the most important thing in my life, the person I love and respect the most, Rob. I love him, I love him, I'm so sorry," Stewart said in a statement to People Wednesday.

This has by far been the most vocal Stewart's been about her relationship with Pattinson, which she has notoriously been private about in past interviews.

Sanders followed up Stewart's candid statement with his own public expression of remorse.

"I am utterly distraught about the pain I have caused my family. My beautiful wife and heavenly children are all I have in this world. I love them with all my heart. I am praying that we can get through this together," Sanders said in a statement.

News of Stewart's stunning infidelity with the 41-year-old married father of two broke late yesterday, when Us Weekly got a hold of pictures of her and Sanders kissing.
