REPORT: $20M Couldn't Bring Katy Perry to TV
By RAPHAEL CHESTANG
August 26, 2012
Katy Perry is doing very well.
According to Us Weekly, the singer turned down $20 million from American Idol to judge on the show for one year. That's $2 million more than the deal Idol made with Mariah Carey in July.
"[Katy] was being hotly pursued," a source told Us. "They really wanted her."
With Katy out of the running, Mariah remains the highest-paid judge of TV's music competitions ... for now.
Other stars reportedly being sought after for the music competition include Nicki Minaj, Pharrell Williams, Nick Jonas and Keith Urban.
