Joan Rivers and Rihanna

Joan Rivers and Rihanna have been going head to head ever since the singer admitted to being in love with Chris Brown in her recent interview with Oprah on Oprah's Next Chapter, despite his February 2009 assault on her.

On August 24, 2012 Joan tweeted: "Rihanna confessed to Oprah Winfrey that she still loves Chris Brown. Idiot! Now it's MY turn to slap her."

In tweets that have since been deleted, Rihanna retaliated with the following, "slap on some diapers" and "@joan_rivers wow u really do get slow when you're old huh?"

Less than half an hour after Joan's tweet, Rihanna took to Twitter, writing "CONTROL YOUR SPEECH! #devotionnavy." Some believe the Proverbs 15:4 quote is a response to the 79-year-old comedian's tweet.

On August 24, Joan responded to people criticizing her joke. "Honey, @rihanna, everyone knows: If he hit you once, he'll hit you again. Read the statistics. PS – Love to have you on Fashion Police!"

Even Joan's Fashion Police cohort has stepped into the arena. On August 28, Kelly Osbourne tweeted, "With the greatest of respect 2 a young lady of whom I love please get a sense of humour @Joan_Rivers paved the way 4 all us opinionated ladies!"
