This funnyman -- known for his comic performances in countless movies as well as his stand-up TV specials -- is set to host the always unpredictable MTV Video Music Awards Thursday night. Here are five things you probably don't know about Kevin Hart. 

1. Was working as a shoe salesman before deciding to quit his job to work full-time in comedy.

2. In 2004, wrote and starred in his own ABC sitcom, The Big House, but it was canceled after just six episodes.

3. When asked which guys he would recruit if starting his own boy band, he told the Los Angeles Times he would choose fellow comedians Wayne Brady, Dave Chappelle and Don Cheadle. "We'll call ourselves the Dark Knights," he said.

4. Has more Twitter followers than comedians Jerry Seinfeld, Chris Rock and Louis C.K. combined.

5. Is a self-proclaimed "watch freak" and once admitted to audience members that he bought a $175,000 watch because he thought it would be a "game changer." He later tried unsuccessfully to return the pricey piece because no one seemed to notice it.
