He created the FOX comedy hit Family Guy and also voices the show's characters Peter and Stewie. His directorial debut of the comedy Ted became a hit earlier this year and he was just named host of next year's Academy Awards show. Here are five things you probably don't know about Seth MacFarlane.
1. As a teenager, created a comic strip called Walter Crouton for his local newspaper, the Kent Good Times Dispatch in Connecticut.

2. Was once voted the Smartest Man on TV by Entertainment Weekly.
3. Has said he considers the 1979 Steve Martin comedy The Jerk the funniest movie ever made.

4. Based his Stewie Griffin voice on Rex Harrison's portrayal of Henry Higgins in the film classic My Fair Lady.
5. Was supposed to board the first plane that crashed into the Twin Towers on September 11th, 2001, but he missed the flight due to a travel agent providing the wrong departure time.
