Exclusive: Marissa Jaret Winokur on Weight Loss
October 31, 2012
Marissa Jaret Winokur recently lost a whopping 60 pounds and The Insider's Brooke Anderson is getting an exclusive look into the actress' radically changed lifestyle. Jaret Winokur invites Anderson into her Los Angeles home to discuss her weight loss, her father's passing and her battle with cervical cancer.
When asked by Anderson about her self-image pre and post-weight loss, Jaret Winokur replies, "When I was a size 14, I was super happy ... I felt confident in my body. I don't think a size really should define who you are, and how you feel about yourself...the Doctor [was] saying I'm not healthy...so I need[ed] to change my way of life. But, interestingly enough, there are moments in my life [where] I felt more comfortable in that body sometimes than in this body."
Despite going from a size 14 to a size 2, Jaret Winokur wonders if it will ever be enough for Hollywood, "I definitely have moments where I'll go to an audition or a meeting and girls are just so much skinnier ... I'm still in Hollywood. I still will be considered a chubby actress."
The Retired at 35 star takes Anderson through her closet full of various sizes and admits to holding on to her old wardrobe, saying, "I still have 'em because I'm sure I'll gain it all back. I know it's horrible, but here's the thing ... my fear is, what do you do? I have jeans that fit me great and what if I gain it back? I need those jeans."
Despite her fears of gaining the weight back, Jaret Winokur is extremely content with her newfound lifestyle, telling Anderson, "I've had a great career. I'm happily married. I have a beautiful son. I've never felt like my weight defines me."
Anderson says of the interview, "Marissa was incredibly open and I think viewers will be both inspired and informed. We went into her kitchen, her closet and even worked out with her trainer Keith Anthony. We learned a lot."
Tune into The Insider to watch Anderson's exclusive two-part interview, starting Thursday, November 1.
