Donald Trump was characteristically candid on election night by using Twitter to denounce the re-election of Barack Obama as -- among other things -- a "total sham and a travesty." We caught up with NeNe Leakes to get her comments on the social media meltdown by The Donald -- whom she maintains a close relationship with since appearing on his show The Celebrity Apprentice.

The Real Housewives of Atlanta star said she likes and respects Trump, but remains a strong supporter of Obama. "He has the right to say and do whatever he wants to do, although I like Obama, he doesn't have to like Obama," she told The Insider correspondent Nina Parker. She added:  "I wish he wouldn't be so negative on Twitter, but at the end of the day it's his choice."

When asked whether some of Trump's tweets were over dramatic, Leakes responded "of course," but said that's just Donald. "He's got a lot of things to say and a lot of things that are dramatic, and has said things that I personally wouldn't say and speak out on."

The star added: "You can think those things, but there are just some things that you don't need to say -- maybe say them amongst your friends -- but you don't have to say them so publicly like that."

On her own view of the outcome, Leakes said she's glad Obama is back for another four years and said that losing candidate Mitt Romney "can now head back to Neverland, honey -- it's over!"
