The Makings of Google Plus' First Big Star
March 22, 2012
Twenty-three-year-old Daria Musk became an overnight musical sensation thanks to Google+, and she revealed how all the pieces fell into place while shooting her new music video.
Daria revealed that upon signing up for Google+, she discovered a feature called Hangouts -- a video chat for up to 10 people.
"I looked at that and my producer and I were like, 'Maybe we could use that to play a concert without having to lug our amps through the rain,'" explained Daria, who has since scored a record contract.
Daria's first concert lasted for six and a half hours, as word of her talent quickly spread.
"One person dropped and another person joined in right away," Daria recalled.
Chris Robinson is directing Daria's music video. The award-winning director has also worked with stars such as Jay-Z and Usher. A major theme for the project is "open doors."
"Since I've joined Google+ it seems like all these doors that used to be locked ... they're all busted open now," Daria gushed. "It seems like anything is possible. Being able to reach a global community of people all in one moment -- it's remarkable."
