Violinist Lindsey Stirling Rocks Out
September 19, 2012
Have you ever seen a violinist rock out? Lindsey Stirling is not your average music icon, and the accomplished 25-year-old violinist has become an Internet superstar with her energetic and visually stunning rock, trance and hip-hop music videos that feature her dancing while playing.

"I wanted to make it fun. I wanted to make it entertaining and energetic," says Lindsey about thinking outside the box with her instrument. "Playing like a statue on stage as I used to play just wasn't quite cutting it."
Lindsey made the quarterfinals of America's Got Talent, but it wasn't really until she started posting her videos on YouTube that her popularity started to pick up, garnering over 131 million hits.
"I learned to moonwalk through the Internet -- an unofficial YouTube trained dancer," she laughs.
While her music has no lyrics, the devout Mormon (who studied therapeutic recreation at Brigham Young University) says it speaks volumes: "This represents a huge part of my beliefs, my life, my stories -- but it can represent whatever you want it to represent as you listen to it because it's up for interpretation."
