Ooh my gosh you guys, Penelope Cruz used to be a crazy cat lady! Okay well not exactly … but still!
In a recent interview with Vogue, the 'Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides' star Penelope Cruz told the mag that when she first moved to Los Angeles, she barely spoke English, lived in a tiny hotel room and had some very interesting roomies -- cats. That's right -- cats -- as in several of them!
"I was very lonely," she told Vogue. "I would find cats in the street and take them with me. I raised a lot of cats in that period."
Well to be honest, the vision of Mrs. Bardem hunting the street for cat companions doesn't remind me of any cat lady I've ever seen in my days of traipsing about Hollywood. But, that's cool with me. Even if a muumuu-wearing Penelope was walking the boulevard with a shopping cart full of meowing cats, all gussied up in knit outfits that the Oscar winner crocheted herself, she'd probably still look amazing. Damn that sexy Spaniard.
Hey Penelope, next time you are in la la land and get lonely give me a call! Seriously, we could have a fun-filled outing to The Grove -- we'd gossip about how silly boys are, eat salty chocolate gelato, giggle to one another about how the words "panties" and "moist" gross us out and then confess our undying love for Pedro Almodovar as The Grove's famed musical fountains danced in the background. Ya know just regular ole girl stuff!
Look Penny (do you mind if I call you Penny?), I'm just saying I'd make a really good friend -- and you can even dress me in homemade knit wear if you want. I won't mind.
Your new BFF,
