The TRON universe is expanding with a slick, action-packed new animated Disney TV series, TRON: Uprising (starting with a prelude episode this Friday), proving that the 1982 computer grid fantasy has grown way beyond a cult following ever since the 2010 box office success of TRON: Legacy in theaters.

But perhaps there's no greater fan of Light Cycles and Identity Discs than Jay Maynard, aka "TRON Guy," a computer programmer who fabricated his own homemade TRON suit and posted pictures online -- which quickly made him an Internet sensation.

Well, it made perfect sense to me to ask the voice cast of TRON: Uprising (including Elijah Wood, Mandy Moore, Paul Reubens, Tricia Helfer, Reginald Veljohnson, Lance Henriksen, Nate Corddry, Emmanuelle Chriqui and TRON himself, Bruce Boxleitner) if they knew of TRON Guy and -- more importantly -- would they party with him? TRON: Uprising takes place before the events of the big-screen TRON: Legacy. The visually striking series follows the heroic journey of a new character, a young program named Beck (voiced by Elijah Wood), who becomes the unlikely leader of a revolution.

Disney Channel will present TRON: Uprising, Beck's Beginning, a 30-minute prelude to the series on Friday May 18, followed by the series launch on Thursday, June 7 at 9 p.m. on Disney XD.
