On Kimmel's late night show, James, 47, asked the host if he'd like to learn some self-defense moves -- that's when the actor attacked!

"You know what that's called Jimmy, it's called the element of surprise," the King of Queens star taunted. While this was supposed to be a lesson, Kimmel was apprehended for most of the time.

In James' upcoming film Here Comes the Boom, he plays a high school biology teacher who seeks to become a mixed martial arts fighter. The comedy hits theaters today, Oct. 12.
