The 2009 big-screen version of the classic anime character has Astro Boy -- a scientist's robotic creation modeled after his lost child -- fighting in the Robot Games, gladiatorial matches in which the metallic entities battle to the death. Later, Astro Boy must save the futuristic Metro City from the out-of-control robot, The Peacekeeper, destroying much of the city in the process.
