When I first saw the trailer for Chronicle, I thought it was a very elaborate Pringles commercial -- seeing as there is an extended "yum, Pringles!" moment -- but now that I know it's a sci-fi film due out in 2012, the effects-heavy morality tale is easily one of my top 5 most anticipated 2012 movies.

Which is saying a lot given the company Chronicle keeps on that list: The Amazing Spider-Man, The Hunger Games, The Avengers and The Dark Knight Rises.

But after you watch the trailer -- which follows three supernaturally gifted friends (Michael B. Jordan, Dane DeHaan, Alex Russell) as their powers go from fun to frightening when one veers towards the dark side -- I have no doubt Chronicle will fly atop your list as well.

Chronicle hits theaters on February 3.
