Mickey Rourke plays a lot of rough and rowdy characters on the big screen, but as The Insider's Brooke Anderson came to discover, the muscle bound tough guy is a genuine bad ass.

Turns out a session of one of Mickey's favorite extracurriculars, arm wrestling (!), went a little more extreme than he anticipated. Rourke evidently tore out a ligament amidst an especially raucous session with a "mountain of a man," but did he care? Nope.

"I went too long and I probably should have just given up," is the lesson Mickey learned that day.

Not one to let a gimpy arm deter him from his larger-than-life role in the film, Rourke explains he wasn't especially intimidated by his fit and trim, 20-something co-stars. Apparently his trick to fitting in with the young and hunky is "holding [his] stomach in."

Watch the video, and let Mickey inspire your inner bad ass.

You can check out Rourke alongside Henry Cavill, Frieda Pinto, and Kellan Lutz in The Immortals November 11.
