Bond is Back! New Movie Details!
After countless stops and starts over the last three years, James Bond 23 officially kicks off shooting today and during a press conference in England this morning, it was announced that the title of Daniel Craig's next (and maybe last at this rate) adventure, will be Skyfall!
A title that producers Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli say will have "some emotional context." Director Sam Mendes was also there, and he said Skyfall is "its own story. It doesn't connect with the last two films." The director also adds that, unlike the slightly less successful Quantum of Solace, the drama will find a way to co-exist with the fisticuffs. "The action is part of the main body of the film [but] the action needs to co-exist with the drama." A fact reaffirmed by Wilson, who added, "With Casino Royale, we started down a path, and we're sticking with that path. Plenty of action."
The supporting cast was also revealed with Javier Bardem playing the film's villain, Naomie Harris (28 Days Later) playing a field agent named Eve and Berenice Marlohe will play someone named Severin while Ben Whishaw, Ralph Fiennes and Albert Finney have also joined in unnamed roles. The director said that their character names are being withheld because "Bond fans might know them," before quickly adding, "or they might not."
The cast and crew kept it short and sweet as they had to head directly into filming -- but the press conference, and I, would like to leave you with one last exchange.
After Daniel Craig confirmed he would, once again, take his shirt off, producer Michael G. Wilson chimed in, "If Barbara has her way, it'll be more than just his shirt!" Chuckles all around.
