Harold & Kumar's 'White Castle' Rewind
Unlikely stoner duo Harold and Kumar are back on the big screen for a third time this Friday in the outrageous Yuletide comedy A Very Harold & Kumar 3D Christmas -- and we've dug up a little junket gem from John Cho and Kal Penn's first outing, 2004's Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle.
"It's a really smart movie masquerading as a dumb one," said Kal, who said that White Castle is more controversial than Fahrenheit 9/11 and The Passion of the Christ – although he couldn't remember the exact title of "that Jesus movie."
Kal also says that with Neil Patrick Harris' breakout cameo in the film, viewers get to be "pleasantly shocked to see him murder [Doogie Howser, M.D.] onscreen … playing a really perverted version of himself. It's really awesome."
Watch the video as the vegetarian Kal explains how he ate all those White Castle burgers for the movie, John's tale of late-night Korean food runs -- and whether or not they really got stoned on set!
A Very Harold & Kumar 3D Christmas finds the stoner buds having grown apart over the last six years. Spending the holidays with their respective friends, Kumar finds a mysterious package containing "high grade" contents at his door on Christmas Eve. His attempt to redirect it end up with Harold's father-in-law's prized Christmas tree going up in smoke, forcing the pair to scour New York City for the perfect replacement tree.
