TLC: The Movie
By CLAUDIA GREENE
December 01, 2011
R&B group TLC has endured enough drama to fill seven Behind the Music specials, but instead of retreading that well-worn territory, VH1 is scripting a biopic for the band, which will chronicle the extraordinary history of Tionne "T-Boz" Watkins, Rozonda "Chilli" Thomas, and Lisa "Lefteye" Lopes.
The movie (airdate TBD) will consist of pictures, songs, and video from the group's past to portray their dramatic and fun moments while a script (by Single Ladies writer Kate Lanier) will dramatize the band's journey. The surviving members of the group, T-Boz and Chilli, have signed on as executive producers to the project.
"The reality of this brings me to tears because I am seeing one of my dreams come to life," Chilli said in a statement. "I always felt our story had to be told." A sentiment that T-Boz echoes. "I'm just overjoyed. I appreciate everyone on staff at VH1 that took interest in us, thank you. Well here we go on another TLC ride and I can't wait. Like Biggie said 'Now if ya don't know, now ya knowwwww.'"
