January 02, 2012
Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol rang in the New Year with a bang, as it beat out Sherlock Holmes: Game of Shadows and War Horse for box office supremacy.
The fourth installment of the Mission: Impossible franchise pulled in $40 million over the four-day holiday weekend -- more than double that of Steven Spielberg's War Horse, which made $17.6 million.
Sherlock Holmes 2 squeezed in between the two with $27 million.
