Octavia Spencer Talks Oscars, Fashion & Fame
Like many of you, I ate up everything Octavia Spencer served in The Help. Well, within reason.
It was a bold, brave and star-making performance that has earned her a Golden Globe, a SAG Award and -- on Sunday -- most likely an Academy Award.
The Help's Anna Camp on Their Award Season Triumphs
I caught up with Octavia last week at USA's A More Perfect Union: Stories of Prejudice and Power event in Los Angeles and in addition to talking about the importance of social activism, I found out what life has been like in the spotlight.
As someone who struggled in Hollywood for years, Octavia is appreciative but not blinded by this white hot spotlight and credits her mother's teachings for helping her stay grounded while embarking on uncharted professional territory. Check out my chat with Octavia and tell me -- who are you rooting for on Sunday?
