Already on everyone's buzz list for his breakout performance as Magneto in X-Men: First Class, Michael Fassbender let it all hang out – literally and emotionally – in the critically acclaimed Shame as a compulsive sex addict who shies away from emotional intimacy. At the 2012 Golden Globe Awards, George Clooney jokingly praised fellow his nominee, saying, "I would like to thank Michael Fassbender for taking over the frontal nude responsibly that I had." He went on to pretend to swing at a golf ball, jesting, "Honestly, you can play golf like this with your hands behind your back. Go for it man, do it!"
