It's been 25 years since Mel Gibson and Danny Glover's action-buddy film Lethal Weapon became a surprise box office smash, launching a highly profitable four-film franchise in the process. It's also easy to forget that before "Mad" Mel was defined by his surreptitiously recorded rants, The Passion of the Christ and drunken anti-Semitic slurs, he was one of the biggest stars in Hollywood.

Now, all of the Lethal Weapon films are being released on Blu-ray on May 22 in the Lethal Weapon Collection, and we have a pair of never-before-seen deleted scenes following a behind-the-scenes retrospective from the five-disc gift set. Watch the video!

Gibson was cast as suicidal cop Martin Riggs opposite Glover's about-to-retire Roger Murtaugh in director Richard Donner's first Lethal Weapon, and as the series continued, each film grew more comedic (with the help of such comic relief as Joe Pesci and Chris Rock) and adjusted the focus on friends and family (with bigger and bigger action set pieces, naturally).

The perfect Father's Day gift, the Lethal Weapon Collection includes four featurettes about the genesis, legacy and making of each film in the franchise, plus music videos with Sting and Eric Clapton, cast interviews, deleted scenes and more.
