Angelina Jolie has made such booming name for herself in the film industry that we sometimes forget that "Jolie" is truly her middle name and her surname "Voight" had well-established roots in the film industry before she was born.

For this Pop Culture Rewind, we take you back to this date in 2001 when Jolie was being interviewed for the then-upcoming film Tomb Raider, in which she starred opposite her father, Jon Voight.

At the beginning of the interview as Jolie is about to field questions about working with her father, Voight comes out of hiding and sneaks behind Jolie and takes her by surprise. "It's a good thing I said something nice," Jolie says with her father by her side.

Jolie then describes what it was for her to play parallel roles with her father in the film. "I was thinking about how I feel about my father and the things I think—me included—everybody needs to hear from their father," she says. "Because it was really him and he really meant all the things he was saying to me and I really knew that...It's like when you have your father tell you that their proud of you or that they love you...I just tried to remain composed."

Once her father leaves the interview, the then-25-year-old actress breaks down her character in the film, "Laura Croft." Jolie said that although she enjoyed playing the part, it was difficult for her to portray Croft's swagger, which she wasn't accustomed to. "You have to jump right in and that was the hardest thing for me—to be able to be proud and with that confidence that I don't in my life as a woman," she says.

Jolie also gives her general feelings on her life, which she says is much more than show business. "I'm starting to learn about other aspects of life, not just this business," she says. "This business can be so tiny...and focused on so many things and can feel very confusing for somebody who's trying to be free. Now, I can see the world... This business is about this (demonstrates with fingers) tiny when it comes to what life is really about. So, all this stuff is just fun."

Just fun, she says...
