Hunter Parrish Talks Finnick Casting
When I first read The Hunger Games, I spent the entire book envisioning Weeds star Hunter Parrish as Peeta Mellark -- and while he was, at one time, a frontrunner for the role (reportedly it came down to him and Josh Hutcherson, who ended up snagging the gig), many are now wondering if there is still a part for Parrish to play in the franchise.

With casting rumors for The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, well, catching fire, many have begun to associate his name with Finnick Odair -- the 65th Hunger Games victor who becomes an ally for Katniss and Peeta when, SPOILER, President Snow throws them all back into the arena!

Not only is Hunter physically perfect for the role of a trident-wielding playboy (slash prostitute), but he shares fan's deep love for the series. Although it's clear he feels a little bit disheartened over the casting process given how close he came to starring in The Hunger Games.
When asked by MTV what he thinks about all the fan outcry to cast him as Finnick, Hunter says, "You know, this whole Hunger Games thing ... I'm not quite sure. I've been through this once before. I saw it as something very exciting. I dove in for that one, so for this one, I think you just kind of step back. If it happens, it happens. I'm really not going to spend too much time thinking about it."
And while Hunter freely admits he'd love the role, he goes on to say, "I wouldn't cast myself ... I think there are fantastic actors who would probably be better," he refused to throw any names out there. "I still want the job, I'm just saying."
