Months have gone by since the passing of Whitney Houston, but now the late singer and actress will be brought back to life in movie theaters as her final film Sparkle is now in theaters. The cast shared their favorite Whitney moments with The Insider at the film's Hollywood premiere.
"Just her laugh and her huge smile," said Tika Sumpter of her favorite of Whitney's attributes. "No matter what...she was always smiling [and was] never ashamed of her past. She wanted us all to shine bright...I'm just happy that she left this gift to the world."

All of Whitney's co-stars mentioned her humility and thoughtfulness toward others on the set. Brely Evans, who recently joined the acting community, mentioned eating lunch with Whitney as her favorite moment.
"[She was] such a genuine person," Evans said. "I just love that she even took me on, and I'm new to the scene...It was just so amazing being around her light. I speak of her in the present tense because her light still lives in me, and I'm just so grateful to have been chosen to meet her."

Although everyone at the premiere was sad that Whitney was unable to join them in the celebration of the film, they all imagined what it would be like if Whitney were there, and some said they could feel her presence.
"If Whitney was here...she would be having a ball," said Derek Luke, who played the title character of Antwone Fisher in 2002. "This is Whitney's crowd. This is Whitney's party, and everybody's coming out to see her."

Whitney began her acting career in 1992 with The Bodyguard, and was fortunate enough to have the mentorship of co-star Kevin Costner on her film debut. She wanted to play the same role in Sparkle for Jordin Sparks in her film debut.
"I'm just really trying to be in moment," Sparks said of her first movie premiere and film debut. "This is only going to happen once. It's my first premiere ever. This is really huge for me. I hope there are many more premieres to come but this one is definitely special."

In addition to her coincidental suitability for the role because of Sparks' last name, her co-stars praised her performance as "Sparkle" in the film.
"Jordin has an innocence about her. It makes her a great Sparkle because there's this innocence, this zest, this passion [about the character] and that's what Sparkle has," said Tika Sumpter. "She's new to this, so it's like a fresh look at things."
Sparkle is now in theaters.
