It's one of the most beloved musicals in history, and on Christmas Day, Les Miserables returns to the big screen with an all-star cast.

Hugh Jackman, Anne Hathaway, Amanda Seyfried, Russell Crowe, Helena Bonham Carter, Sacha Baron Cohen and Eddie Redmayne will share the big screen in the Tom Hooper-directed movie, and in anticipation, Universal released an extended trailer complete with cast interviews.

"It's going to be different for sure," Hathaway, who plays Fantine, says of the musical remake. "This is the first time anyone has ever tried it like this."

In case you're not familiar with Les Mis, the movie is based on Victor Hugo's classic novel set in 19th-century France, in which a paroled prisoner named Jean Valjean (Jackman) seeks redemption.

So, what makes movie musical so special? "The idea of singing live is daunting," Jackman says of singing on set instead of recording the songs separately in a studio. "But what it gives you is this freedom."

"By filming it live, Tom is allowing us the spontaneity of normal film acting," Redmayne, who plays Marius, adds.

Check out the extended trailer and let us know: Will you be seeing Les Mis on opening night?
