After a setback due to a tragic set of circumstances, the mob thriller Gangster Squad is ready for action with an all-new ending in which Ryan Gosling, Josh Brolin, Sean Penn and Emma Stone create even more fireworks. Get a first look at the new trailer!

'Gangster Squad' Release Postponed For Reshoots

Following this summer's tragic theater shooting in Aurora, CO during a midnight screening of The Dark Knight Rises, the original trailer for Gangster Squad was pulled immediately, as it contained a sequence in which gangsters open fire on an unsuspecting crowd in a movie theater.

Out of respect and consideration for the Aurora incident, that key scene during the film's climax was removed from the film and new scenes, shot in L.A.'s Chinatown, were ordered by Warner Bros., pushing back Gangster Squad's September release date to January as a result.

The new trailer features some serious action and pyrotechnic moments from the new ending in Chinatown.

In theaters January 11, the late '40s-era drama chronicles Brooklyn-born mob king Mickey Cohen's (Penn) domination of Los Angeles – and the super-secret crew of LAPD outsiders recruited to stop him. The ruthless Cohen rules the City of Angels by controlling the drugs, the guns and prostitutes and, most importantly, the police and the politicians. Now, it's up to Sgt. John O'Mara (Brolin) and Jerry Wooters (Gosling) to try to tear Cohen's world apart and take back the town from one of the most dangerous mafia bosses of all time.

Directed by Reuben Fleischer (Zombieland, 30 Minutes or Less), Gangster Squad also stars Nick Nolte, Robert Patrick, Michael Peña, Giovanni Ribisi and Anthony Mackie.
