6 Must Hear New Songs!
Our music Insider Erin Lucas is back with another collection of fresh jams that you simply have to hear!
1. CITIZENS!, True Romance
You guys! I'm not even gonna lie. I don't know anything about this band. I just luckily stumbled upon it on one of my many favorite music blogs. You try googling 'citizens'. Whatever, it's still staying. I love this music video.
2. First Aid Kit, The Lion's Roar
Swedish sisters Johanna and Klara Soderberg started writing songs back in 2007 as teenagers. They sent a tape of their home-recorded single to a Swedish radio station and it was played on repeat all summer (way to go, girls!). In 2008, their debut EP was released, including their Fleet Foxes Tiger Mountain Peasant Song cover; it spread like wildfire across the music blogosphere. Two years later, they released their debut album and while on tour, they were approached by Jack White to do a single for his Third Man Records series. This is the title track off their sophomore album, coming out early next year. I am in love with their voices and harmonies. More, more, more!
3. Friends, I'm His Girl
These friends haven't even put out a full-length album yet and they're already selling out shows in London! Bushwick based Samantha Urbani, Lesley Hann, Nikki Shapiro, Matthew Molnar and Oliver Duncan are going places. I'm pretty excited about these guys and I predict we'll be hearing much more from them in 2012.
4. Sepalcure, See Me Feel Me
Travis Stewart has put out a whole mess of awesome stuff under several pseudonyms (Machinedrum, Syndrone, Tstewart, Neonblack, Jets, Spirit Gypsies, and…Sepalcure, obviously). This jack-of-all-trades even mixed Theophilus London's This Charming Mixtape (featured on a recent playlist). For his work under the name Sepalcure, Steward collaborates with friend Praveen Sharma. After an extremely busy summer, they're back with their self-titled release on Hot Flush.
5. Radiohead, Bloom (Jamie xx Rework, Pt. 3)
Less of a "remix" and more of a "remake", this song is 8 minutes of pure gold. Props to Jamie XX for making one of my favorite bands sound amazing in a totally different, new way. His first "rework" was great too, but I'm glad he made a few revisions and extended the length of the song. Lurve.
6. A$AP Rocky, Palace
A$AP Rocky blew my mind earlier this year with his debut single, Purple Swag. Since then, he has scored a $3 million deal with RCA (hell yeah!). This song is the opener off his debut mixtape LIVELOVEA$AP, produced by Clams Casino & released this past Halloween.
