Elton Sings To 'His Angel,' Whitney Houston
Elton John's Candle in the Wind has become the touchstone musical tribute for all gone-too-soon stars, but at his Million Dollar Piano Performance at Caesars Las Vegas last night, Elton dedicated a different ditty to the late, great Whitney Houston.
"This is a sad day today. Most of you must know by now that Whitney Houston passed away today. All I want to talk about is her music," Elton told the crowd before regaling them with a story about falling into a YouTube black hole of brilliance, clicking one Whitney video after another.
"You forget, with all the troubles she went through, how incredibly brilliant this woman was. She could sing Porgy & Bess, she could sing gospel, she could sing I Will Always Love You and make you cry. She was the most beautiful woman I've ever seen."
