While the Hunger Games wait is not yet over, die-hard fans have been given a morsel to tide them over until the film's March 23 release with the debut of Safe and Sound, the music video for the title track of the highly-anticipated album.

MTV world premiered the Taylor Swift /Civil Wars production tonight in their MTV First: Taylor Swift special, followed by a twitter Q&A with select Swifties. Unlike countless music videos of movie soundtracks past, Safe and Sound had little in the way of connecting the song to its accompanying film, save for a moment Taylor encounters a Mockingjay pin in an abandoned cabin.

What Will 'The Hunger Games' Sound Like?

Although it would have been a treat to see an extra scene or two from the movie, it was admittedly refreshing to experience the effect of the song's haunting words and melody against the simple visuals of a bare-faced Swift walking the empty woods in her bare feet.

Later, Taylor revealed to MTV's Sway Calloway that she is a verified "fangirl" of the popular series, and when asked to write a tune for the soundtrack, she approached Safe and Sound with the spirit she took from Katniss' grief, calling the ballad a "death lullaby" of sorts.

Swift also divulged S & S as the absolute "favorite video" of hers that she's ever made.
